• How did you use Evernote and the Evernote Web Clipper to support your work in this course?
  • What other uses for your PKB did you develop as you got more comfortable with Evernote?
  • How do you think that viewing your notes as a lasting resource might affect how you participate in future courses.

When I was first introduced to Evernote and Evernote Web Clipper I was a little bit confused, but as I got used to the program, and became familiar with keeping a running tally of all the research I had done, I really started to enjoy Evernote. Before I was introduced to Evernote, I used a simple word processing program to conduct all research for my classes. Using just Pages, the Mac version of Microsoft Word, led to my research becoming scattered and disorganized. Being at URI, most professors require research to be done through the library's database. With the database being so massive, and with their being more resources than one knows what to do with, Evernote was helpful in creating an organized place where only the important articles I needed would be stored. I used the Web Clipper to directly add articles and resources that were important for whatever project I was working on. For this course specifically, I used Evernote to hold my research done for the context report on Rhode Island schools, and for the project on Issues Around Reform. In other classes I used Evernote to conduct research, and I also stored homework assignments in a specific notebook for my writing class. I did that in order to keep them organized because their were so many of them, and it made more sense to type them out than to write them. Having that homework notebook was useful because when it was time to hand all the assignments in, I had them all in one place and the process of printing them out and turning them in was made that much easier. The program itself is great, and the main goal of the program is extrememly useful when conducting research. I'm glad I was introduced to the program because I feel as if it will be useful for other classes next semester and even further down the line.

I think that with the use of Evernote the viewing of my notes for a lasting resource will be helpful, especially with my education notes. Since I am an education major, the things I have learned in this class I will be able to carry with me on to other classes in later semesters. I learned a lot of basic knowledge, and the basis for large ideas within education reform, so with having these notes saved, I will never have to relearn any of the basic terms or concepts. All in all, Evernote was a great program to be introduced to, and I am willing to say that I will continue to use Evernote throughout my college career.
